A chef who previously worked for the prestigious Japanese restaurant chain Nobu is now serving up sushi and wagyu steak in Tysons.

Modan opened to customers last Friday (Nov. 8) at 1788 Chain Bridge Road on the second floor of the Heming apartments in Scotts Run. Currently in soft-opening mode, the restaurant is offering dinner service from 5-10 p.m. for up to 60 guests.

A Maryland artist who has worked for nearly half a century is the subject of the latest exhibit unveiled by the Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art in Reston.

Betsy Packard’s solo exhibition “Ways of Thinking About Your Life” opened on Nov. 1 at the institute’s gallery in the Signature apartment building at 11850 Freedom Drive, where it will remain on display through Feb. 1, 2025.


A new restaurant specializing in cuisine from the Arabian Penninsula, particularly Iraq and Kuwait, is moving into the Town of Vienna.

Dar Mariam anticipates opening in late December at 107 Maple Avenue West, the storefront that was vacated this summer by Donutchew, according to its Instagram profile.


King Arthur Baking Company’s bake truck will make its long-awaited local debut this weekend.

The truck will dish out free chocolate chip cookies this Saturday (Nov. 9) in Fairfax Corner, near the brand’s new pop-up store, starting at 11 a.m.


Tysons Corner Center and Fair Oaks Mall are getting into the winter holiday spirit with Santa Claus gliding into both shopping centers tomorrow (Thursday).

At Fair Oaks, the man in red will set up shop for photo sessions at Santa’s Flight Academy in Center Court, starting around 2 p.m. Tysons Corner Center will greet Santa with a VIP arrival event from 10 a.m. to noon on the mall’s lower level near Wasabi.
