    Expect a chance of showers after 3pm, cloudy skies, and a high near 69 with light east winds increasing to 5-8 mph in the morning; 20% chance of precipitation. For Saturday night, there’s a 70% chance of showers mainly after 2am, lows around 59, and a northeast wind at 7-13 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph; new precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are possible.     New veterinary ER in Chantilly lets owners stay with pets during treatment

    A 24/7 pet emergency room that allows owners to stay with their furry and feathery friends through all stages of treatment opened its 114th location this week in Chantilly.

    VEG ER for Pets, located at 5009 Westone Plaza, offers an open floor plan with no lobby, and immediate contact with the medical team. Owners are able to follow their pets throughout treatment and have the option to observe procedures such as surgeries. Overnight stays for hospitalizations are also offered at no additional charge.

    GMU offers free performing arts tickets to workers affected by federal shutdown

    Though it may be small solace for not knowing when their next paycheck may come, a night of music or theater could become at least a temporary escape for the thousands of workers affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.

    That’s what George Mason University hopes to provide by offering free tickets to select artistic performances for federal employees and contractors.

    Inaugural Mason Arts Festival coming to Annandale this weekend

    A week after the first-ever Celebration of the Arts took over Capital One Center in Tysons, Fairfax County’s Mason District will throw its own party championing the local arts community.

    The inaugural Mason District Arts Festival will bring artist booths, live entertainment, a children’s play area and food trucks to the Eileen Garnett Civic Space (7200 Columbia Pike) in Annandale this Saturday (Oct. 11) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    Eyewear retailer sets sights on October opening at Reston Town Center

    Eyewear retailer Warby Parker will soon be the latest addition to Reston Town Center.

    The brand’s newest store, located at 11936 Market Street, is expected to open later this month on Saturday, Oct. 18, the company recently announced. First-day shoppers will receive a complimentary tote bag while supplies last.

    Taste of NoVA festival moves, Army Ten-Miler at risk as federal shutdown drags on

    Fairfax County is losing Taste of NoVA to Prince William County, a consequence of the federal government shutdown stretching into a second week.

    The food festival was set to unfold this weekend (Oct. 11-12) at the National Museum of the U.S. Army in Fort Belvoir, which has been closed since Oct. 1 with all events canceled as long as the shutdown continues.

    Dogfish Head Alehouse lands Reston spot for Fairfax County return

    Dogfish Head Alehouse is coming back to Fairfax County.

    The craft brewery has leased a 7,550-square-foot space in Reston Town Center’s expansion for a new restaurant, its first in Virginia since closing locations in Seven Corners and Greenbriar Town Center two years ago.
