A different kind of taqueria has hopped into Tysons Galleria.

Conceived by some of the team behind D.C.’s Maïz64, Rabbit Taco opened on the mall’s third floor on June 24, selling tacos, burritos, quesadillas and more near Empanadas De Mendoza.


A local diner chain is expanding its footprint across Northern Virginia.

The family-owned and operated Bob & Edith’s, which already features seven different locations, will open its next restaurant in Hilltop Village Center on the border of Newington and Franconia.

Expect showers and possible thunderstorms with a high near 81, accompanied by breezy southeast winds at 20-23 mph, gusting up to 33 mph. Rainfall amounts may reach between three quarters and one inch. On Friday night, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 pm, followed by partly cloudy skies and a low around 68. Southwest winds of 11 mph will shift to the west after midnight and may gust up to 20 mph. A bakery is coming to a vacant space in Vienna’s Jades Shopping Center — but not the one initially planned.

High temperatures should reach near 80°F with an 80% precipitation chance, east winds at 11 mph and possible gusts up to 20 mph. Rainfall may total up to 0.75 inches. Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 74°F, precipitation chance increases to 90%, and wind gusts may reach 18 mph, with an additional 0.5 inches of rainfall possible. Dozens of cardboard boats will populate the waters of Lake Anne in Reston this Saturday (Aug. 10) for the 2024 Cardboard Boat Regatta.

The popular annual event, where community members race each other in life-sized cardboard boats that they built and decorated by hand, will return Lake Anne Plaza (1639 Washington Plaza North), starting at noon and ending at 3 p.m.

Winds will shift from south to east at about 6 mph in the afternoon, and an 80% chance of precipitation will bring rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, possibly more in thunderstorms. With D.C.-area athletes riding high at this year’s Summer Games, Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream is serving up gold medal-themed scoops that probably taste sweeter than the real thing.

The Arlington and Vienna ice cream parlor unveiled a limited-time Gold Medal Sundae last Friday (Aug. 2) in honor of Arlingtonian swimmer Torri Huske, a Yorktown High School graduate who’s won five medals — three of them gold — at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
