Cafesano bistro, Chantilly dessert cafe and more coming to Fairfax Corner

Cafesano Italian and Mediterranean Bistro and Chateau de Chantilly are expanding to Fairfax Corner.

Developer Peterson Companies announced today (Wednesday) that it has secured leases from the teams behind those local eateries and three other dining and shopping retailers — all expected to open over the next year.

NEW: Vienna bookshop Bards Alley to move after owner buys nearby building

An independent bookstore in Vienna will relocate within the next year after its owner purchased a building nearby.

After 10 years of leasing its current storefront at 110 Church Street NW, it was time to find a permanent home for Bards Alley Bookshop, owner Jennifer Morrow announced today (Wednesday).

Wolf Trap unveils summer season with spotlight on America’s 250th anniversary

For anyone seeking a welcome reminder that this winter will eventually end, no matter what the snow still piled up on local sidewalks and parking lots suggests, look no further than Wolf Trap’s newly released summer schedule.

In honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary, a special series celebrating the eclectic music woven into the U.S.’s “rich cultural tapestry” will take center stage at the Filene Center throughout the season, the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced today (Tuesday).

Sweetgreen opening new Tysons location soon with giveaways

Fast-casual salad and bowl chain Sweetgreen will debut its latest location in Tysons with giveaways and support for a local nonprofit.

Sweetgreen will open on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 8405 Leesburg Pike in Tysons. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the location will serve seasonal light bites from Sterling-based restaurant Local Provisions and offer plants from Falls Church-based Botanologica.

JCPenney to exit Springfield Town Center after 53 years

After surviving recessions, the dawn of online retail and a sweeping redevelopment, JCPenney’s time at Springfield Town Center is at last coming to an end.

The department store will permanently close on May 24 after 53 years at the shopping center formerly known as Springfield Mall.

The Escape Game and more open first Virginia locations at Tysons Corner Center

Tysons Corner Center is continuing to expand its entertainment options with an unveiling of The Escape Game.

Making its Virginia debut, the escape room company opened a 4,470-square-foot venue on Saturday (Feb. 7) on the mall’s first floor between Barnes & Noble and the recently relocated American Girl.
