Showers are possible after 2pm, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 68. Light southwest winds will increase to 5-10 mph in the morning and could gust up to 21 mph. Beauty salon chain expands with new Reston, Chantilly locations

A national beauty salon chain has expanded its local presence in Fairfax County just in time for prom and wedding season.

Sola Salon Studios recently welcomed locations in Reston and Chantilly to its roster with grand openings on March 17 and 24, respectively. Both salons are corporate-owned but offer suites for lease to independent barbers, hair stylists and other beauty professionals.

Mosaic District welcomes Herman Miller with more new businesses on the way

This year is shaking out to be a big one for Merrifield’s Mosaic District.

The shopping center, which houses a variety of businesses and restaurants, expects to add five more over the coming months, a spokesperson for EDENS — which operates the Mosaic District — told FFXnow.

NEW: Construction begins to redevelop Kohl’s building in Herndon

Construction is underway to redevelop the longstanding Kohl’s store in Herndon.

The exterior walls of the building, located at 2100 Centreville Road, now feature gaping holes, as construction crews work to accommodate three new tenants in the space.

Founder’s Day returns to Reston with new name, same celebratory spirit

Founder’s Day is out, Celebrate Reston! is in.

The annual festival honoring Reston founder Robert E. Simon’s birthday will return to Lake Anne Plaza on April 5 from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. under a new name that organizers believe more clearly conveys the event’s “spirit of enjoyment and celebration,” Reston Museum Executive Director Lisa Watts says.

Where to find cherry blossom-inspired food and drinks in Fairfax County

With the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival getting started last week, multiple Fairfax County restaurants are getting in on D.C.’s fun.

Some eateries across the county are offering special dishes, drinks and more, while others are offering celebratory discounts.

Therapy program for children with autism coming to Chantilly and Tysons

Little Leaves Behavioral Services, a center that offers specialized therapy programs for young children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, is opening four new centers around the region including two in Fairfax.

According to a press release, the new centers will open sometime this summer. They will each be able to serve 24 children.
